The City of Lockport is pleased to announce that it has been awarded with the Government Finance Officers Association’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the 2020 Budget (Fiscal Year beginning January 1, 2020). In order to receive the award, the City must publish a budget document that meets GFOA’s program criteria in mandatory categories.
The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting. The document is intended to serve as an organizational policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and as a communications device. Specific mandatory categories evaluated by GFOA when determining the agency’s eligibility toward the award include:
- Strategic Goals and Categories
- Priorities and Issues
- Financial Policies
- Budget Process
- Capital Program
- Performance Measures
This is the City’s sixth consecutive year receiving GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. For the past ten years, the City has been awarded GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. The City currently maintains a AA+ bond rating and participates in annual independent audits.
