Update July 21, 2020: City staff and the applicant are working through a number of the different issues that were identified both at the Plan and Zoning Commission (PZC), Committee of the Whole, and City Council meetings. They are anticipated to be included at a PZC meeting in the fall pending the results of those discussions. More information will be posted once available.

On Wednesday, May 20, at their regularly scheduled Committee of the Whole (COTW) Meeting, the City Council, after hearing concerns voiced by surrounding residents, placed the Concept Plan Proposal for the Redwood Development on their June 3rd City Council agenda as an action item for additional discussion and are expected to take a vote whether to accept the recommendation from the City’s Plan and Zoning Commission to approve the concept plan, moving the proposal forward into the next stages of the approval process.
Unless authorized differently, City Council members will participate via a virtual meeting – although some may attend at City Hall – the current practice per State of Illinois Executive Order effective March 23, 2020. Since continued appropriate social distancing and the limitation of a gathering more than 10 people is still recommended, any member of the public wishing to attend the City Council meeting at City Hall may be asked to wait in other conference rooms with a live feed to the meeting.
If you do not feel comfortable attending the meeting in person, questions or comments may be submitted in advance of the meeting to City Planning via email accepted up to 24 hours prior to the meeting time, entered into the public record, and available for Council review. The applicant may be asked to respond to questions that have not been brought up during the discussion at the May 20th COTW Meeting.
The City has also reached out to the adjacent homeowner’s association and neighborhood representatives to distribute information and encourage residents to participate in the process including submitting comments, watching the meeting online or attending in person.
